Magnit Wins National Trucks and Roads Award

Krasnodar, Russia (October 2, 2020): Magnit won the Trucks and Roads award as the best Commercial Road Freight Carrier on Domestic Routes (Heavy Commercial Vehicles). The award ceremony was held as part of the sixth International Conference “Road Freight Transportation: Challenges and Opportunities. New Reality”. Besides the Company, eight other leading carriers of the country were also nominated for the award.

Magnit has one of the largest and most developed logistics systems in Russia, which includes a network of distribution centers and almost 5 thousand of its own vehicles. Since 2019, the Company has been implementing a new logistics development strategy called the Freshness Chain, which covers all areas: distribution of goods, transit and international delivery, operation of distribution centers, and management structure. The strategy focuses on delivery of assortment from the Fresh and Ultra-Fresh categories. In accordance with this, Magnit launched a number of initiatives, including the introduction of geo-zonal logistics for optimal distribution of vehicles and improvement of their productivity, implementation of electronic document flow, and digitalization of all business processes in motor transport enterprises.

The Freshness Chain strategy also takes into account aspects of sustainable development. As part of its personnel management framework, the Company develops a comprehensive system of driver training and internships, implements measures to ensure safe and economical driving, and strives to increase the prestige of the driver's profession and motivate employees to aspire for professional growth. To improve the environmental efficiency of its logistics, Magnit converts its vehicles to NGV fuel, contributes to the development and introduction of electric trucks, and implements a fleet renewal program.

The national Trucks and Roads award in the field of road transport was established in 2017 by the business information portal of the same name at the initiative and with the active participation of the Inter-Industry Expert Board for Development of Road Freight Transportation and Road Construction Industry (IEB) and with the support of the Ministry of Transport of Russia. The Trucks and Roads award aims to attract the attention of the country's business community to the positive processes taking place in the road freight transportation market, and to encourage companies that make the greatest contribution to the development of the industry through their activities.
