Krasnodar, Russia (February 29, 2024): Magnit, one of Russia’s leading retailers, developed an updated concept for Magnit City—a format of small stores tailored to meet the needs of customers in big cities.

A redesigned Magnit City store opened under the new concept in Krasnodar at 58 Krasnaya Street. The layout of the sales area was upgraded to make the customer journey more convenient and highlight certain focus categories (for example, bakery products, ready-to-eat meals, vegetables, and fruits are displayed at the store’s entrance). The store’s updated design features modern materials along with new colors and graphics.

As a result of the renovation, the in-store cafeteria was expanded to increase seating capacity. Here, customers can have a bite, charge their phone, and use free Wi-Fi. The redesigned Magnit City also offers new services: dedicated displays for confections, hot pizza, fast food, etc. In addition to several types of freshly brewed coffee, the assortment includes hot tea beverages made in a thermo pot, as well as fresh juices squeezed on the spot.

The updated concept puts an even greater emphasis on freshly cooked meals and balanced solutions for healthy on-the-go food. The Magnit City store in Krasnodar has about 2,000 items available in such categories as soft drinks, confectionery and bakery products, snacks, ready-to-eat, dairy products, meat, fish delicatessen, etc.

At the moment, the Company’s small-format chain (which includes Magnit City stores and Magnit Go kiosks) is comprised of 24 outlets. The sales area of a Magnit City store ranges from 100 to 250 square meters (for comparison, an average classic Magnit Convenience store has about 350 square meters of selling space and carries an assortment of 5,300 SKUs). Apart from the ready-to-eat offering and cafeteria, the small formats feature additional services popular among the residents of big cities.

In the coming months, Magnit will open several Magnit City stores under the new concept, with some of those planned for launch in airports. The Company will then assess the performance of the redesigned stores and make a decision on the further development of the chain.
