Krasnodar, Russia (March 7, 2024): Magnit, one of Russia’s leading retailers, is developing corporate volunteering and supporting initiatives proposed by employees who are willing to help others and change the world around them for the better.

Last year, 21.5 thousand Magnit employees took part in various volunteering initiatives, both public and organized by the Company. Magnit’s volunteers provide assistance to children who are currently in the custody of the state, lonely elderly people and residents of nursing homes, children and adults with special needs, and anyone experiencing hardship. The Company’s employees also help stray animals and animal shelters and take part in environmental and other events.

To coordinate volunteer initiatives, the Company runs a large-scale program—Dobro Na Rayone (“Goodness in the Neighborhood”). Last year, Magnit held its third convention for volunteers, where 120 volunteer ambassadors of the Dobro Na Rayone movement shared their experiences with people working for the same cause. The Company also organized a competition among its employees for the third time, with 10 winners receiving grants to develop their own volunteer initiatives.

Magnit also develops inclusive projects aimed at creating a comfortable environment for people with special needs. In 2021, the Company implemented the Dobry Zaets (“Kind Hare”) project—a training program intended to teach store personnel how to serve people with disabilities. Last year, more than 175 thousand employees of the company were trained under the Dobry Zaets project.

In cooperation with the Starost v Radost (“Happy Old Age”) charitable foundation, which aims to aid senior and disabled citizens, Magnit launched the Inclusive Volunteering project. Now, people living in psychiatric facilities can take on the role of caretakers and help their co-residents, assisted by the volunteers from the foundation and Magnit. The Company supports volunteer teams in such facilities by helping to train volunteers and providing them with colorful branded clothing, craft supplies, and leisure goods.

Last year, the Company also launched the Mehribon Mahalla volunteer movement in Uzbekistan, where Magnit has been developing a chain of M Cosmetic stores since 2022. Forty-six employees of the chain in Uzbekistan took part in the project as volunteers.

The number of volunteers among Magnit employees increased by almost a third over a year and reached 21.5 thousand. We are happy that our volunteer movement is expanding and attracting more people. This means that we will be able to do more good deeds and provide more support and warmth for those who need help.”
